Andy Murray and Serena Williams have reached the last 16 stage of the mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

After breezing past Andreas Mies and Alexa Guarachi in their debut outing on Saturday, Murray and Williams secured a second round victory over Raquuel Atawo and Fabrice Martin on Tuesday evening.

The pair delivered a 7-5 6-3 victory on Centre Court.

Williams returned to the court just two hours and 45 minutes after booking her place in the women's singles semi-final after a comprehensive victory over Alison Riske.

And it was the 21-time Grand Slam champion who enjoyed the more comfortable start of the two - sealing set point at the third time of asking with a vicious forehand winner.

Breaking the opposition in the second game of the second set, 'Murena' charged towards with victory with the contest developing a more exhibition-like feel as the two began to click into gear.

Murray and Serena have not dropped a set in their opening two matches and are still to be broken as a duo.

They will meet Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar in the third round - Soares being the former long-time doubles partner of Murray's brother Jamie.
