Andy Murray and Serena Williams out of Wimbledon mixed doubles after losing to Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar

Andy Murray and Serena Williams are out of the Wimbledon mixed doubles after defeat to Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar.

After easing their way to victory in their opening two games as a pair, ‘Murrena’ were given a sterner test against Soares and Melichar, the no.1 ranked doubles side in the competition – Soares also being the former doubles partner of Andy’s brother Jamie.

Soares and Melichar advance to the quarter-finals after a 3-6 6-4 2-6 victory.

After dropping the first set, Murray and Williams fought back to level the contest and force a decider.

Soares and Melichar immediately broke the opposition however to take control, forcing another to move 4-0 ahead.

While they were able to pull two games back, it only delayed the inevitable with Murray netting a return to hand victory to Wimbledon's top seeded side.
