Andy Murray and Feliciano Lopez book place in Queen's Club doubles final

Andy Murray and Feliciano Lopez booked their place in the doubles final at Queen's Club on Saturday evening after a thrilling 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 10-7 win over John Peers and Henri Kontinen.

It was the third match of the day for Lopez - with the Spaniard having earlier beaten 18-year-old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (7-3) 6-3 6-4 to seal his progression to the singles final where he will play Gilles Simon.

Lopez then played the rest of his doubles quarter-final with Murray before admitting his body was "sore" after a tense semi-final showdown with Peers and Kontinen.

As well as having to take on Simon in the singles final on Sunday, 37-year-old Lopez will also have to contest the doubles final alongside Murray against Britain's Joe Salisbury and American Rajeev Ram.

Left-handed Spaniard Lopez, who had slipped to 113th in the rankings and required a wildcard, is the oldest player to reach the Queen's final having won the tournament two years ago.

Simon will be aiming to become the first Frenchman to triumph at the prestigious grasscourt event.

Speaking after his doubles win, Lopez told BBC Sport: "Of course, I am really tired - I've been playing a lot this week.

"I haven't played so much this year because of injury. My body is really sore."
