Andy Halliday reveals Rangers' Scott Arfield clue that will let Celtic know their intentions

Former Rangers hero Andy Halliday believes Scott Arfield's role will provide a clue on how the visitors plans to tackle Celtic on Saturday.

The Canada international has been in brilliant form with Joe Aribo sidelined and looks a certainty to line-up against the Premiership champions.

But Hearts star Halliday reckons if Arfield is pushed further into a front three that might be an indication that Steven Gerrard is erring on the side of caution.

The 28-year-old is also hopeful either Jordan Jones or Brandon Barker start in attack to add some pace at the top end of the pitch.

Speaking on Open Goal, he said: “I would like to see them play with pace, in the front three.

“The way Scott Arfield has been playing in midfield, he will play there. If he plays Arfield in the front three then it is more, how do we stop Celtic.

“I don’t think many Rangers fans will agree with me, but I would play Barker or Jones. They’ve got have to have the pace. (Steven) Davis, Arfield and (Ryan) Jack and then somebody in the front three with pace with Ryan Kent.”
