Andy Halliday delivers brutal Umar Sadiq Rangers verdict and the 's***e training' theory striker didn't get to prove

Andy Halliday struggles to believe Rangers flop Umar Sadiq has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester United.

The striker struggled during a short loan spell at Ibrox from Roma and was never seen again after a disastrous performance against Aberdeen in a 2018 League Cup semi-final.

He later moved to Partizan Belgrade and a stunning run of form in Serbia where he has scored or assisted an incredible 34 goals in 39 games has led to a €15million price tag being slapped on his head.

But Halliday can't wrap his head around the suggestion that a player he watched struggle in Ibrox training could end up at one of the world's biggest clubs.

He told Open Goal podcast : "I can't believe it. I have to be honest with you.

"Genuinely, I've played with players who are s***e in training but good in games. And he didn't get an opportunity to show anything in games."

Host Si Ferry cut in to remind the midfielder about the Nigerian's infamous start against Aberdeen.

Halliday continued: "Aye that went brillaint.

"If you are the manager and someone trains the way he trains you are never going to play him.

"What I used to find about him was he wanted an hour every time he got the ball.

"Even if you were doing an unopposed finishing drill, he'd take a touch then another touch and then a fake shot and then he'd shoot.

"Everything was so unrealistic.

"One thing I will say about him is that he does have raw talents. He is quick and he's got that rangy stride.

"The other thing is, see if you are playing for Rangers and you are playing against a deep block and he has no space in behind you are not going to get the best out of him.

"He's done well since he's left but he never did enough at Rangers to warrant playing."
