Andy Halliday completes Hearts move as former Rangers star joins Robbie Neilson's promotion push

Hearts have announced the arrival of Andy Halliday on a two-year deal.

The midfielder has agreed to join the Jambos following his release from Rangers at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old underwent a medical on Monday and his return to the game has now been confirmed.

Halliday has been linked with a host of clubs since his Ibrox exit and previously signalled he was eyeing a return to England.

But Hearts boss Robbie Neilson has moved to recruit the former Livingston, Middlesbrough, Blackpool and Bradford City star for his Premiership promotion push.

The manager told the Edinburgh club's website: "I'm really pleased to be able to bring in someone of Andy’s experience and quality.

"He’s played top level football in Scotland and in the English Championship and was a mainstay at Rangers for years.

"He’s also got experience of the Scottish Championship so he knows what this level is about and, more importantly, how to win.

"Andy’s really driven and determined and I want that on the park. I think he’ll do well for us and I’m looking forward to working with him."
