Andy Gray hits the Rangers giggles over Celtic defeat as Richard Keys seeks title prediction validation

Joyous Rangers fan Andy Gray could barely contain himself when he realised St Mirren had defeated Celtic to push the team he loves even closer to the title.

The Premiership champions are going out with a whimper and the pundit was euphoric as he soaked in what the result means for Steven Gerrard's side.

It was the perk me up that Gray needed as he was down in the dumps after his other love Everton suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of struggling Newcastle.

But the 61-year-old was in high spirits when asked to share the reason why he had been hit by the giggles on live television.

Speaking on beIN Sports, he said: "Well, do I have to say it?

"The reason I've cheered up a little since Everton got beat (audible laughter), obviously a bit sad and down, is I have just seen Celtic got beat today at home by St Mirren.

"So I'm very happy."

Keys couldn't resist chiming in to share his title prediction as he reminded his sparring partner that he called the race in Rangers' favour at the beginning of the year when they opened up a 19-point gap over Celtic.

He responded: "I think January 2, when I said that was the day Rangers won the title, I wasn't wrong, was I?

Andy Gray: "No, but we're a lot closer, that's why I've cheered up, sorry everyone who's not Rangers fans, (giggling) it's my team."
