Andy Goram dead at 58 as Rangers announce passing of legendary keeper

Rangers have announced that legendary goalkeeper Andy Goram has passed away after a battle with cancer.

The club announced in May that Goram had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The former Ibrox keeper, nicknamed 'The Goalie' during his playing days, was a hero of Rangers ' Nine In A Row years during his time in Govan between 1991 and 1998.

Last month he revealed he had taken a turn for the worst and was given just weeks to live. And now Rangers have confirmed he has passed away in a club statement.

It reads: "Rangers Football Club are today deeply saddened to announce the death of our legendary goalkeeper, Andy Goram, following a short battle with cancer. The thoughts of the directors, management, players and staff are today with Andy’s family, and would ask that their privacy is respected at this sad time. Funeral details will be communicated in due course."
