Andy Dalton provides update on injured thumb

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is spending his first offseason in the city in large part thanks to the thumb injury that knocked him out for the rest of the season in late November.

Dalton says he’s been throwing for two weeks now, though the bigger concern was range of motion.

“That’s the thing you’re worried about,” Dalton said, according to Bengals.com. “As soon as I got out of the surgery, I wanted to get that motion back. If you have a concern it’s, ‘Am I going to be able to grip the ball the same?’ It’s back to normal. … It’s fine.”

For Dalton, rehab is going well and as a result, he’s had a firsthand look at the massive changes happening to the Bengals this offseason.

Call it a silver lining of sorts, as Dalton has to digest a new offense led by head coach Zac Taylor and a new offensive coordinator.

As with A.J. Green, it doesn’t sound like Dalton’s injury timetable is anything to be concerned about, which is critical given the changes happening around him.
