Andy Dalton credits Zac Taylor for offense’s progress ahead of mandatory minicamp

Where the Cincinnati Bengals stand before heading into Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp is a question worth asking.

Those Bengals, after all, have a new head coach in Zac Taylor and keep making changes along the offensive line, most recently signing John Jerry and waiving Rod Taylor.

But ask Andy Dalton, most of the offense is already installed and getting quickly executed by the players thanks to Taylor.

“I think guys feel like there’s a difference around here and it starts with the guy in front of the room,” Dalton said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “And Zac’s done a good job getting exactly how he wants it and guys have responded getting it.

This is far from the first time players have praised Taylor and his staff for the way they handle coaching. But it is particularly interesting to hear even Dalton thinks the new offense is mostly installed already.

Dalton considers the three-day stretch of mandatory camp to essentially emulate what a regular Wednesday practice would look like during the regular season.

While the Bengals will likely keep it vanilla like they will during the preseason, it’s comforting to know Dalton considers everything mostly installed before a six-week break.
