Andy Dalton armed with a ‘different perspective,’ wants to be back with Bengals next year

Let the Andy Dalton debate begin.

The Cincinnati Bengals picked up their first win of the season Sunday over the New York Jets right as Andy Dalton re-entered the picture at quarterback.

Cincinnati remains the favorite for the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft despite the win, which won’t quiet whispers about Joe Burrow coming to town.

But Dalton’s record-setting performance and the team actually winning has presumably created two sides of discussion.

For what it’s worth, Dalton said he “absolutely” wants to be back with the Bengals next year, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“I have no idea what’s going to happen,” Dalton said. “I’m just going to do all I can to win the last four games.”

Dalton also told PFT his sitting out for three games after getting benched for a rookie gave him a “different perspective” and he still wants “to be the guy.”

We’ll see if the Bengals agree and avoid drafting someone like Burrow. But it’s safe to presume Dalton will keep playing with this giant chip on his shoulder the rest of the way.
