Andy Crosby assumes caretaker role for remainder of Northern Ireland Under 21 campaign

The Irish FA has confirmed that Andy Crosby will assume caretaker charge of Northern Ireland 's Under-21 squad for the remainder of their UEFA Euro qualifying campaign.

Crosby steps up to the helm after former boss Ian Baraclough's appointment as senior manager at the end of June.

Former Scunthorpe and Oxford defender Crosby worked as assistant to Baraclough during his time with the U21s.

He will now lead the underage team in their remaining five qualifiers, starting with a trip to Malta on September 4.

The U21s will then host Denmark (September 8), Finland (October 9) and Ukraine (October 13).

The final game of the campaign, postponed from March as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, is the rescheduled trip to face Ukraine (November 17).

Northern Ireland have yet to win after five games in Group H.

They have lost twice and drawn three games to sit second from bottom in the pool.

Denmark lead the way after five wins from five, ahead of Romania in second.
