A date has been set for the trial of Andy Coulson, the former editor of the News of the World, on a charge of perjury.

The trial will begin on 21 April in Edinburgh and is scheduled to last for six weeks.

Coulson attended the high court in Edinburgh on Monday, accompanied by his wife Eloise, to hear the date set.

The charge relates to the trial of the former Scottish Socialist MSP Tommy Sheridan and his wife Gail in December 2010, during which Coulson gave evidence.
