Andy Considine and Paul McGinn earn Scotland call-ups as Steve Clarke adds to depleted squad

Aberdeen defender Andy Considine and Hibs full-back Paul McGinn could earn their first Scotland caps after being added to the senior squad.

Steve Clarke has opted to add to his contingent for the coming Nations League double-header against Slovakia and the Czech Republic after injury and Covid-19 concerns.

Stuart Armstrong tested positive for the virus, which also caused the forced self-isolation of team-mates Kieran Tierney and Ryan Christie.

Injury woes added to the problem as Scott McKenna, Liam Palmer and Oliver Burke had to pull out.

But now Clarke has moved to introduce Considine and McGinn to the fold to cover for those absences.

Neither player has ever been capped for the senior side, though McGinn's younger brother John is a Scotland midfield mainstay and he started the penalty shootout victory against Israel in Thursday night's playoff semi-final.

It's also expected that Considine's Dons team-mate Ross McCrorie will earn a call-up after he captains the nation's Under-21 team against Czech Republic on Friday night as they, like Clarke's men, seek qualification for the Euros next summer.
