Andy Carroll slams Sean Dyche's claim that he deserved to be sent off: 'Every game it's always me'

Andy Carroll has hit back at claims he should have been give a red card in the 1-0 defeat against Burnley.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche stated after the game that Carroll was lucky to stay on the pitch during the ding-dong in Lancashire.

But Carroll himself was the victim of some brutal fouls by the home side as Dyche's men lowered the tone in the Premier League.

Dyche felt that Carroll's foul on Ben Mee should have resulted in him getting an early bath.

Carroll said after the game: "It was just a challenge I was jumping up, getting elbows.

"I was jumping up, giving elbows.

"It was exactly the same at both ends.

"But, somehow, every game it’s me, it’s always me.

"Fabby Schär’s just walked in there - he’s got bumps all over the back of his head.

"But, somehow, they kept on getting fouls."

Dyche had said: "I was surprised by Andy Carroll staying on the pitch, just in the modern game, no disrespect to him.

"If you leave an elbow and it’s too far, too high and too late, then the way the modern game is, you probably get sent off.

"It shouldn’t be a game of decisions, but it might be talked about as that."

Carroll was captain for the afternoon but his day was marred by a strange decision from rookie referee Tim Robinson.

He reflected: "We're very frustrated.

"I think we did everything we can.

"It was a draw, all day.

"I think it was a poor decision from the ref - poor decisions all night, really  I got nothing, up top.

"They kept on getting fouls, up top.

"A few bad decisions lead to the goal.

"It wasn’t a corner the ref’s given a corner when he’s already given a goal kick.

"But, really, it was probably a free-kick on Fede (Fernandez) to start with and they go and score, which was, obviously, disappointing."
