Andy Carroll injury latest as Steve Bruce assesses Newcastle's growing list

Andy Carroll is likely to miss Newcastle United's home clash with Tottenham Hotspur - and could be touch and go for the trip to Brighton in the final away game of the season.

Carroll has been struggling with a groin injury and missed the clash the 2-1 defeat at Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Bruce has fielded Dwight Gayle in attack against the Hornets and he responded with the opener before a late defensive lapse in Hertfordshire.

Bruce said today: "I don't think Andy will make it."

United boss Bruce still has Joelinton and Japan international Yoshinori Muto available to him and may take a look at the former Bundesliga striker in the remaining three games of the season.

Bruce confirmed today that Jamaal Lascelles was struggling with an ankle problem while Sean Longstaff - who is back in light training - and Isaac Hayden are classed as doubts for the penultimate home match of the campaign.

Lascelles was being assessed at the training ground this morning as preparations for the visit of Spurs continued.
