  • Sir Keir Starmer tendered his resignation as prime minister and First Lord of the Treasury to King Charles, with Buckingham Palace confirming His Majesty graciously accepted it.
  • Mr Burnham is scheduled to arrive at Downing Street at approximately 12.40pm to deliver his first address to the nation, where he will pledge to restore confidence in government.
  • The new prime minister is expected to state that Britain must be honest about the challenges it faces and will then proceed to appoint his cabinet.
  • As part of an anticipated policy blitz, the Makerfield MP plans to scrap Sir Keir Starmer's controversial digital ID scheme and is reportedly considering opening the door to more oil and gas drilling in the North Sea.
