Andy Boyle seals move back to Dundalk after frustrating spell in England

Andy Boyle sealed his return to Dundalk today and said: “This club is going places”.

Capped once by Ireland, Boyle is back at Oriel Park after a frustrating spell in England with Preston North End which incorporated loans at Doncaster and Ross County.

He won the Scottish Championship with Ross County this season and they were among a number of clubs hoping to sign him permanently.

But as expected, Boyle has sided with the Lilywhites and penned a ‘long-term’ contract with the League of Ireland champions today.

Boyle, 28, said: “I’m delighted to get the deal done. The changes to the place since I left are amazing.

“The facilities that are here now for the players, it shows the club is only going one way and I just want to be a part of it.”

Boyle is not eligible to play until July 1, so that means he won't be involved in Friday’s top-of-the-table clash away to Shamrock Rovers.

Dundalk boss Vinny Perth said: “We’re really pleased to have Andy back.

“The difficulty when you sign players is that it takes them a while to understand how we do things and understand our ethos.

“But Andy knows what we’re about. He’s part of our culture, he’s part of what we’ve achieved over the last six seasons, so it’s a perfect fit for us.”
