Andros Townsend hopes Crystal Palace keep 'world class' Wilfried Zaha this season

Andros Townsend hopes Crystal Palace can keep "world class" Wilfried Zaha for another season despite manager Roy Hodgson conceding the star still wants out.

Zaha scored the only goal as Palace began their campaign with an opening day win over Southampton on Saturday.

Townsend believes Palace are poised to kick on this season after an encouraging transfer window.

Hodgson has added Nathan Ferguson, Eberechi Eze and Michy Batshuayi to his squad and Palace are still in the market for reinforcements.

But key to their season will be keeping hold of Zaha, who the Eagles value at more than £50million.

"Wilf is a world class player," Townsend said. "I think he would be a main player for anyone in the world, we're grateful we've got him - he was the match-winner on Saturday and I'm sure he'll help us get some wins and some goals between now and the end of the season.

"We have made a good start, we've got some good players and a top manager, we've made some good signings, we are trying to go to the next level as a team and a football club. If we have a good window between now and when it closes we can have a good go this season."
