Andros Townsend calls out Crystal Palace over Ashley Young tweet after Man United win

Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has criticised the club's Twitter account that appeared to be mocking Manchester United's Ashley Young.

The Eagles beat United 2-1 at Old Trafford weekend in one of the Premier League's shock result of the weekend.

Patrick van Aanholt's late winner ensured Palace came away with their first Premier League win of the season.

Townsend, who came on as a second-half substitute at Old Trafford, has defended former England teammate Young after the Palace media team showed a video of him being twisted inside out by Wilfried Zaha.

The video shows Zaha, a former United man himself, beating young not once but twice, leaving the Red Devils' captain on the floor, although he still managed to block Zaha's cross.

In a surprising move, Townsend was seen criticising the video from his own Twitter account.

He quote tweeted Palace's post and wrote: "A 34 y/o ex winger vs one of the leagues best wingers.... he gets destroyed twice yet still manages to block the cross.... we should be applauding this not making fun of it #Respect "

No doubt this won't go down well with the club's hierarchy, as they have been seen to be showing a lack of class by one of their own players.

Towsend, who has 13 international caps after making his debut in 2013, played alongside Young for the Three Lions.
