Andrew Wiggins is ‘very excited’ to have Steph Curry back on the court for the Warriors

After landing in the Bay Area on a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves on deadline day, Andrew Wiggins only suited up for 12 games with the Golden State Warriors before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Over his short stint with the Warriors, Wiggins averaged 19.4 points on 45.7% shooting from the field with 4.6 boards, 3.6 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals per contest.

During the former Rookie of the Year’s debut stint with the Warriors, he only played one game with Stephen Curry. Wiggins tallied 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the field with 10 boards, two assists and two blocks in 37 minutes against the Raptors.

With Curry healthy to start the 2020-21 season, Wiggins is excited to have the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player back on the court. At a post-training camp practice press conference with media, Wiggins said Curry’s presence is a “game-changer.”

I’m excited. I’m very excited having Steph Curry back. He’s someone that can do everything for us. Once he steps on the floor — just his presence is a game-changer. He on the floor is a game-changer. Getting a chance to play alongside him and learning, seeing how he goes about certain stuff — that’s what’s most important. I think him stepping on the court is going to be a game-changer.

Throughout Golden State’s preseason training camp at Chase Center, Wiggins and Curry will quickly have to get familiar with each other on the court. Following Klay Thompson’s injury, Wiggins will likely play alongside Curry in the backcourt on some possessions.

With only one game from last season and a limited amount of practice, Curry and Wiggins will need all the time they can get to build chemistry before opening night against the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 22.
