The Los Angeles Rams will get a taste of life without Andrew Whitworth, but his knee injury isn’t season-ending. Sean McVay told the media on Monday that Whitworth has a Grade 3 MCL/PCL injury that will sideline him for “a handful of time.”
McVay estimated that Whitworth will miss 6-8 weeks and will go on injured reserve, but he emphasized that the injury is definitely not season-ending, which is good news for the veteran left tackle and the Rams as a team.
In Whitworth’s place, the Rams will start Joe Noteboom at left tackle. He filled in for about half the game on Sunday after Whitworth injured his knee.

Whitworth has missed just one game since joining the Rams, which was Week 17 of the 2017 season. It wasn’t due to injury, though. Los Angeles opted to rest its starters in that one with a playoff berth already locked up.
Whitworth, 38, signed a three-year contract extension with the Rams this season. He’ll turn 39 in December, and based on his initial response to the injury, it sounds like he’s going to fight this rehab with everything he has in order to get back for his teammates.
