Andrew Whitworth helps 53 families with grocery gift cards, presents for kids

Earlier this month, Andrew Whitworth was nominated by the Rams for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. It’s the third time in four seasons that he’s been up for the prestigious honor, continuing his inspirational work in the L.A. community.

He’s showing why he’s deserving of the award once again, giving back to families that are less fortunate this holiday season. On Wednesday, Whitworth helped out 53 L.A. families in transitional living situations, residing in motels and shelters.

According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, he gave them grocery gift cards, packaged meals and presents for kids, hoping to make this difficult holiday season a little bit easier.

This month alone, Whitworth has donated $50,000 to a local restaurant, The Serving Spoon, in addition to this latest act of kindness. He also helped organize a $750,000 team-wide donation to 25 different nonprofits that are fighting for social justice.

It seems every week Whitworth is doing something inspiring off the field, which is exactly why he deserves to finally be named a Walter Payton Man of the Year winner.
