Andrew Taylor leaves Sunderland to take over from Simone Farina as Leeds United loan manager

Former Sunderland first-team coach Andrew Taylor has left Wearside to take over as loan manager at Leeds United.

The 34-year-old defender takes up the vacant role after Simone Farina, left to become General Manager of the player management company First Football in November 2020.

Taylor joined the Black Cats as part of Phil Parkinson's backroom staff having played under him at Bolton Wanderers.

Improving the club's loan strategy has been an important focal point for Orta - hiring Farina in October 2019.

Orta told the Training Ground Guru podcast “We start with the loan manager this year, Simone Farina - not in the level of the big clubs, but we are analysing, trying to improve our policy.

“It is really good to try and make successful the loan, not just sign a form and forget.”

The club's loan strategy played a vital part in bringing Eddie Nketiah to Elland Road from Arsenal.

The Whites made a presentation to a loan committee at the Emirates and convinced the Gunners hierarchy that Leeds was the best place for him.

It has not yet been confirmed by Sunderland but Taylor's LinkedIN profile has confirmed his new role.
