Andrew Neil to join Channel 4 with new Sunday evening politics show

Andrew Neil is in talks to join Channel 4 for a new Sunday politics show, according to reports.

The former BBC and GB News broadcaster is set to sign a deal to host a weekly show due to be launched later this year.

Neil, 72, left GB News last summer and considered a return to the BBC, according to The Times.

He is now understood to be in "advanced talks" for the show, which would be broadcast in the evening to position it away from BBC and Sky's morning politics programmes.

Broadcast, the TV industry magazine that first reported on Neil’s move, said that independent production company ITN, was in pole position to produce the show.

Neil previously agreed to present a Channel 4 documentary examining the prime minister’s leadership crisis. Boris Johnson: Has He Run Out of Road? is to be screened on Sunday (January 30).

Boris Johnson: Has He Run Out of Road?, will see Neil “on the inside track of Conservative Party turmoil”, using his “unique access to Conservative MPs to take us inside the biggest leadership in crisis the country has faced since the fall of Margaret Thatcher”, a release said.

In an interview last November, Neil said that GB News was the “single biggest mistake” of his 50 years in journalism.
