Andrew McGinley shuts down Conor's Clips Facebook page after being targeted by trolls

Brave dad Andrew McGinley has been forced to shut down his Conor's Clips page on Facebook after being targeted by nasty trolls.

The Donegal man had set up the pages on social media as he pledged to keep the memory of his three murdered children alive.

His wife, former nurse Deirdre Morley, was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the murder of their children Conor, Darragh and Carla McGinley.

He currently runs the page on Facebook and Twitter however he announced on Tuesday evening that he would be closing down the Facebook page.

Explaining his reason Andrew said that while most of the comments had been positive Facebook was the one site where there are 'too many' trolls.

A statement from Andrew read: “I thought I was made of tougher stuff but Facebook is not a place I want to be anymore.”

"Everyone who interacts and supports this account here has been amazing.

"However Facebook is the only place where I find comments about me and my family from people who have no knowledge of mental health, our family or anything relating to life with mental health”.

“They type with an air of confidence but when challenged by me they delete their posts.

"Whether they post for 'likes' from fellow trolls, I don't know but I think there are too many here that I don't find anywhere else.

“Therefore I'm choosing to go. You'll find us elsewhere and I hope you'll join us there. Thank you so much for your love and support.”

The Twitter page is currently still active.

Following his children's death, Mr McGinley promised each of them he would keep their memory alive.

He set up a charity in memory of his son Darragh 7, who loved sports and was involved with Rathcoole Boys, St. Marys GAA in Saggart and Commercials Hurling.

McGinley also set up a YouTube channel for his eldest son Conor 7, named Conor's Clips, to honour him as he always wanted to have his own YouTube channel.

Devastated dad Andrew McGinley earlier told the Irish Mirror he has no plans to move from the house where his children died – because he wants to keep their spirit alive.

Andrew said he plans to remain at the house in Newcastle, Co Dublin, because he is surrounded by joyful memories he created with his beautiful kids.
