Andrew McGinley questions why he was dropped from the Late Late Show

Andrew McGinley has said the reason he was dropped from the lineup of the Late Late Show 'doesn't add up'.

Mr McGinley was due on the show to discuss the various projects that he has been working on in recent months to honour his children, which include the Conor's Clips social media channels and the As Darragh Did charity.

His three children were killed in January 2020 by their mother Deirdre Morley who was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity earlier this year.

RTE told him that he couldn't appear because they received a letter that said it could be a "painful and traumatic experience". It was later reported that the letter came from his wife's family.

Now the brave Dubliner is questioning the reasons he was dropped from the lineup.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Mr McGinley said: “To be invited on was massive, then to have it pulled away — when I think about the amount of money we could have raised for Darragh’s charity ‘As Darragh Did’ which helps keep all their names alive.

“Dee knows I’m doing these projects in memory of the kids. Her only comment was that I don’t use her picture on ‘Conor’s Clips’ or on Twitter or social media. She knows I’m doing interviews and speaking."

He added: "Her only ask is that I don’t include any photographs of Deirdre on anything I’m doing with ‘Conor’s Clips’, I never have, and I won’t.

“The reason I was given was that under the BAI code the sensitive nature of what I could be talking about would be potentially traumatic for the people who wrote in. It doesn’t matter that I was invited on to speak about the charity launch and the colouring competition and a kid’s Youtube channel... They don’t add up.”

Mr McGinley was set to be interviewed by Ryan Tubridy on October 8 and was part of the advertised line-up.
