Andrew Malcolm named as man killed in Leith Walk accident as family pay tribute to 'dearly loved' dad

The daughters of a man killed in an accident on Leith Walk have paid tribute to their "dearly loved" dad.

Andrew Malcolm (62) died after being hit by a HGV and a Vauxhall Astra near the Newkirkgate Shopping Centre at around 1.10pm on Tuesday.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene but, despite their best efforts, Andrew was sadly pronounced dead.

His daughters Becky and Stacey Malcolm have now moved to thank the emergency services, while also paying tribute to their dad.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland they said: "Our dad was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all his family. 

"We would like to thank all the emergency services for their assistance and now ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time."

on Tuesday afternoon while investigations were carried out.

A number of witnesses have already been spoken to, but officers want to hear from anyone else who was in the area at the time of the incident.

Inspector Roger Park from the Road Policing Unit in Edinburgh said: "Our deepest condolences are with all of Andrew Malcolm's family and we are continuing with our investigation into this very tragic incident.

"We've already spoken to several key witnesses, however, any other motorists, or members of the public who were in the area and witnessed what happened are asked to come forward, if they have not already spoken with us.

"Similarly, if you believe you may have relevant dash-cam footage of the collision, please also contact police immediately."

Anyone with information should contact the Road Policing Unit in Edinburgh via 101, quoting incident number 1568 of 3 September.
