Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano says he has “supreme confidence” that Andrew Luck will play against Jacksonville on Sunday, despite the quarterback missing practice time with a shoulder injury.
Luck says he “expects to play” but admitted: “It didn’t feel as good as I would have liked it to after the game. Take it day by day. I expect to know more Thursday.”
Luck took part in warm ups on Wednesday but only handed the ball to his running backs during individual drills. Backup QB Matt Hasselbeck took the lion’s share of the throws, and Alex Tanney was also involved.
Luck is generally reluctant to miss practice time, and usually takes the majority, if not all, of the snaps at Colts practice.
Luck was equivocal earlier this week when asked whether he injured himself in the Colts’ hard-fought 33-35 victory over the Titans.
“Football is a physical game, right? We all know that,” he said. “Some games are less physical than others, and that’s sort of the nature of it. This past one certainly was physical. There are a bunch of guys, I’m sure, in both training rooms, recovering from stuff, but for me it’s business as usual.”
Luck, the No1 draft pick in 2012, has been sacked 105 times in his NFL career, but has never missed a snap in a game because of injury. He has had an uneven start to the news season, throwing five touchdowns to seven interceptions.
