Andrew Luck responds to getting booed: ‘It hurt’

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck heard the boos from the fans as we walked off the Lucas Oil Stadium field for the final time in his career after news broke that he has retired.

Luck, who has given his heart and soul to the team, felt hurt as we walked off the field for the last time. The guy who literally played through years of pain had to hear the showers of boos from fans who were instantly reacting to the utterly shocking news.

Luck—even in his uber-optimistic mindset—felt a sense of hurt hearing that from the home crowd.

How fans feel in the moment don’t always dictate the true feelings toward Luck’s retirement. It’s emotional. Not only for Luck, but for the droves of people supporting him. He was a fixture in the city of Indianapolis, and now he feels the need to call it quits.

After years of battling through various injuries, Luck’s love for the game and desire to play had waned.

Most of the people that booed Luck as he exited the field would most likely love to walk that back. For most, it was likely an “in the heat of the moment” reaction.

Regardless, Luck was candid in his feelings about the final time he would walk off the field at Lucas Oil Stadium as a member of the Colts.
