Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Shows Must Go On series: CATS is latest show to be streamed for free

It’s finally arrived – our invitation to the Jellicle Ball. Cats is the next Andrew Lloyd Webber show to stream online for free.

The 1999 production of Cats, a musical based on the 1939 poetry collection Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot, will be the next to feature in the composer’s online series.

The musical will be available to watch for 48 hours from 7pm on Friday May 15 on The Shows Must Go On YouTube channel.

Elaine Paige and Sir John Mills star in this production, which also has an eighty piece orchestra and choreography by Gillian Lynne and contains such famous songs as Mr. Mistoffelees, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer and, of course, Memory.

The London production ran for 21 years, making it the sixth-longest running West End musical.

Cats has had a recent resurgence in Tom Hooper’s 2019 movie musical, which starred Judi Dench, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen and Jennifer Hudson, among many other famous faces.

Previous streams have seen the composer return to his 50th birthday celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall as well as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel Love Never Dies. His musical written with Alan Ayckbourn, By Jeeves, streamed last week.

Get ready for the journey to the Heaviside Layer (wherever that is).
