Andrew Hawkins could relate to Magic Johnson, who made a handful of blunt admissions about his surprising resignation from his position as the Los Angeles Lakers president.
“I’ve been talking to people walking around here, and I’m like, ‘I’m not going to be here,'” Johnson said on Wednesday night while admitting he hadn’t even told Lakers controlling owner Jeanie Buss that he would be resigning.
That’s exactly how Hawkins felt when he joined the Patriots for a brief stint during training camp in 2017. He retired after two months with New England.
All the while, he must have been thinking: “I’m not going to be here.”
