Andrew Gillum slightly ahead of Ron DeSantis in Florida governor's race, poll shows

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Democrat Andrew Gillum has a slight lead over Republican Ron DeSantis in a statewide poll of Florida voters released Wednesday.

The survey, conducted for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, shows Gillum with 47 percent. DeSantis has 43 percent.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points, which means the race could be tied or Gillum could have a somewhat larger lead.

Pollsters interviewed 514 likely voters from Thursday through Sunday, starting after the two nominees chose their candidates for lieutenant governor.

The poll found 2 percent favored another candidate and 8 percent of voters were undecided.

Gillum was ahead in all of the state's major media markets except Jacksonville, the chamber said in a statement about the poll.

The poll was conducted for the Chamber of Commerce by Cherry Communications, which used live telephone interviewers of likely voters reached by cell phones and landlines.
