Andrew Considine signs new Aberdeen deal as club announce two-year extension

Aberdeen have confirmed defender Andrew Considine has signed a new deal.

The long-serving Don pens a two-year extension to his current contract with the option to extend for a further season.

Considine has been a one-club man, making over 400 appearances for the Pittodrie side but was set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

But, having agreed fresh terms, he will now remain in the north east until at least 2021.

The development comes as a considerable boost for boss Derek McInnes , with influential skipper Graeme Shinnie and winger Gary Mackay-Steven both looking set to depart.

But he will continue to have the club's longest serving current player to call on as he plots another summer rebuild.

An Aberdeen statement said: "We are delighted to announce that Andrew Considine has this afternoon signed a 2 year contract extension, with the potential for a further year."
