Andrew Considine in line for new Aberdeen contract as defender ramps up Pittodrie injury return

Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin is to hand long-serving defender Andrew Considine a new deal.

The experienced stopper has just battled back from a bad knee injury he suffered in the Europa League clash at Qarabag in August.

The 34-year-old is out of contract in the summer but is now back training and pushing for a top-team return in the coming weeks.

It's been a long road to recovery for the Scotland cap but the Dons' veteran looks to be rewarded for his Pittodrie loyalty with a new deal.

Goodwin has confirmed he wants to keep the centre-back in the Granite City and Aberdeen director of football Steven Gunn is likely to push through a new contract over the coming weeks.

It follows Goodwin’s first move as manager was to get Ross McCrorie to sign an extension until the summer of 2026.
