Andrew Bogut to join Warriors in San Antonio to fill in for DeMarcus Cousins

Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins left the Warriors’ win over the Oklahoma City Thunder with a sore ankle. While Steve Kerr’s postgame statements suggested Cousins’ injury probably isn’t serious, the news did push up the return date for newly-acquired center Andrew Bogut.

Bogut was originally slated to join the Warriors when they returned from their four-game road trip. But with Cousins listed as questionable for Monday night’s matchup with the Spurs, the Warriors are going to need the added frontcourt help if Cousins can’t go.

Both Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell will be available for Monday night’s matchup as well, but the best way of getting Bogut back into the swing of things could be to throw him into the fire with some of Cousins’ minutes.

Kevin Durant went down with an ankle injury a week ago against the Phoenix Suns, and should return Monday night against the Spurs.

Bogut spent the first half of the NBA season in Australia in the NBL where he won MVP and DPOY honors while averaging a double-double on the season.
