Andrew Bogut has emerged as a potential buyout candidate for Warriors

During the Golden State Warriors first title run, center Andrew Bogut played an instrumental role in their 4-2 series win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. After leaving the Warriors following the 2016 playoff run, Bogut has played for the Mavericks, the Cavs and the Lakers before heading to Australia to play in the NBL.

Bogut performed well in the NBL, averaging a double-double winning the league’s MVP and DPOY. Now that the season is over, however, Bogut is thinking about joining the Warriors down the stretch for another long playoff run, according to Shams Charania.

The Warriors were waiting on the Chicago Bulls to buyout center Robin Lopez, but did not before the March 1 deadline. Marcin Gortat still remains an option if the Warriors are looking for frontcourt help, but Bogut also presents another interesting prospect.

Bogut already knows Steve Kerr’s system and he’s a more natural fit in terms of style off the bench to back up DeMarcus Cousins than Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell. Bogut is 34, though, and some youth and energy off the bench could prove to be more useful than Bogut’s size.

Bogut won’t make a decision soon, but he’s become an option.
