Andreea Stefan thanks neighbours for support as Denis Beytula admits murdering their baby son

Tragic mum Andreea Stefan has thanked friends and neighbours for their support after her baby boy was stabbed to death.

Denis Beytula has today admitted murdering three-week-old Andrei and the attempting to murder Andreea, at the home they all shared, in Wallsend.

Beytula stabbed his 21-year-old partner and her little boy on the afternoon of Wednesday October 2 at their flat, on Portland Close, in Howdon.

Andreea survived her serious injuries, yet nothing could be done to save her baby's life.

And now, as she continues her recovery, the mum have thanked all those who have left tributes and messages of support, with a heartfelt post on the Chronicle's Facebook page.

She wrote: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank to everyone who came to leave flowers and toys and paid respect to my son, in front of my house, I really appreciate it and thanks to everyone for the messages, it’s really nice to see how you guys support me and my family during this hard time. May God give to everyone what they deserve. Thanks to all of you again."

Since Andrei's death a makeshift shrine of flowers, cards and teddy bears have been left outside the front door of the flats, on Portland Close.

A JustGiving page was also set-up to support Andreea, but has since been closed down.

Beytula, 27, pleaded guilty to murdering Andrei and attempting to murder Andreea during an appearance at Newcastle Crown Court this morning.

The child killer, with dark hair and a beard, wore a white top with three buttons at the top as he entered his pleas without showing any emotion.

The court heard there was a "background of domestic violence, broadly speaking to this offence", although full details were not outlined.

Beytula's barrister described the relationship as "turbulent" but a judge said Andreea described the relationship as "coercive", adding: "There's a difference between a turbulent relationship and a coercive relationship she describes."

The defence will look into the issue ahead of sentence.

Beytula, of Portland Close, was further remanded in custody and will be sentenced on December 19.
