Andreas Pereira sends Barcelona warning ahead of Manchester United fixture

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has warned Barcelona that the team always rise to the occasion ahead of next week's Champions League clash.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side host the La Liga giants in the first leg of the quarter final at Old Trafford on Wednesday night and United will be hoping to cause an upset just as they did against Paris Saint-Germain in the last round.

And Pereira, who started in that dramatic comeback in France, is confident United can pull off another impressive result.

“Against the big clubs, we rise to the occasion,” Pereira told  MUTV . "We show our character. We show the real Man United spirit and I think, after what we did against PSG, other teams will be more ready for that, so they will respect us even more.”

Manchester United might have found an ideal candidate to replace Ander Herrera

After getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolves in the last round United have a weekend off and Scott McTominay, who impressed in the defeat against Wolves on Tuesday, thinks the extra days off will be of benefit to the squad.

“The boys are so professional,” McTominay told MUTV. “It doesn’t matter when you play. It could be a month from now and everyone would still be raring to go and at it. I feel like we’ve got a good group of boys here and everybody wants to work for each other.

“Anything can happen and that’s football. There’s so much to be positive about with a big Champions League [night] coming up and it’s one of them that we need to relish now. We need to smile now when we go on the pitch and we need to play with confidence."
