Andreas Pereira sends Arsenal warning ahead of Manchester United fixture

Andreas Pereira has warned Arsenal that Manchester United are going into their New Year's Day clash full of confidence after beating Burnley at Turf Moor.

Goals from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford secured the three points for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side on Saturday night and ensured back to back victories after the disappointment at Watford before Christmas.

The win meant United closed the gap on Chelsea, at least temporarily before Frank Lampard's side play Arsenal on Sunday, to one point and has given the squad a huge confidence boost.

"Confidence is really high," Pereira told MUTV. "We have to keep going, stay humble and work hard. We have to keep this momentum going and hopefully on New Year's Day, my birthday, we can get the win."

Sean Dyche's side gave United a tough test, especially in the second half, but Solskjaer's side managed to hold on for the win and importantly keep a clean sheet in the league for the first time since September.

The club had been on their longest run without a clean sheet in the Premier League having failed to keep their opponents out for the past 14 fixtures and it was a welcome boost for the team that The Clarets were kept at bay.

"It was important, the back line and midfield did really well," Pereira added. "They were really calm and controlled the game for us which made it easier upfront.

"We knew it was going to be a difficult game, a difficult stadium here, and it's important after victory against Newcastle we wanted to keep going and it was a good test and we did well.

"We know they play very direct and in the air. It's very tough to play here, but we showed great mentality and when we had the ball we put it down and we played well."
