Man Utd star Andreas Pereira responds to fans following social media abuse

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has responded angrily to criticism from supporters on social media after two fans hit out at his performances.

The 24-year-old has had an up-and-down season for the Red Devils, scoring two goals and creating three assists in 36 appearances in all competitions, and some believe he is still underachieving at the club.

Pereira took to Twitter on Monday initially to complain about the Call of Duty online servers, with the Brazilian posting: "warzone server what's happening.." followed by a bemused face.

One user replied: "Probably performing like how you do on the pitch," to which Pereira said: "Nobody cares what u tweet."

Another then added: "Too loud for a player that's played in 8 different positions and served up nothing in any of them. Hope this helps."

To this, Pereira replied: "Nobody cares what u tweet either... smh (shaking my head). Hope this helps," followed by a palm over face emoji.

Pereira, who came through the academy at United, signed a new deal last summer to keep him at the club until 2023, and despite the criticism his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is clearly still a big fan, and sees him as an important part of the future.

Pereira said in April: "Even when I came to United at such a young age, going to United it's, of course, a massive club, but I know that they are willing to give youth a chance.

"That is what happened with me. Ole knows we will always be there for him. The young players give our faith and do everything to protect him, as he gives all his trust to us.

"I'm very honoured and that's why, as well, I want to stay at United. I want to fight for him, win games and win trophies."

It remains to be seen if he is involved in United's next game against Aston Villa on Wednesday, with the side still very much in the hunt for a place in the top four.
