Andreas Pereira posts cryptic social media message about Manchester United future

Andreas Pereira has reflected on a difficult season away from Manchester United on loan, in which he is keen to look to the future.

The Brazilian midfield playmaker has spent the past season on loan at Serie A side Lazio, though only made three league starts for the Italian club. He scored on his third appearance but struggled to break into their regular side, playing his final game last week in a 0-0 draw against Torino as Lazio finished sixth.

That was enough for Europa League qualification but it appears unlikely that Lazio will take the option to buy Pereira on a permanent deal from United for next season.

The Eagles' boss Simone Inzaghi fielded the 25-year-old in a variety of positions and MEN Sport understands Lazio won't take up the option to buy that was included in his loan transfer last summer.

Pereira took to Instagram to reflect on his struggles in Italy, as he looks set to return to United in the summer.

He said: "'If you’re struggling to take flight, make like the eagle, renew your wings.’ That’s one of the many things I’ve learned this season here at Lazio.

"The strong symbol of the club, this incredible city, the fans who welcomed me with open arms. All the moments of this season have served for great learning.

"So many moments of frustrations, games I wanted to give more for the team, more time, more of me…

"As for the moments of joy… my first game as a starter and the goal, the moments of victories in the last minutes.

"Here I worked with incredible teammates! Not only the athletes but all the employees of the club.

"The only thing I still don’t like is that I didn’t see you fans at the stadium. That’s something that doesn’t leave my head. The future is ahead. And why not dream of seeing each other at the stadium?"
