Andreas Pereira highlights key change Manchester United need to make

Andreas Pereira believes Manchester United need to show more hunger to grab a second goal after they let their lead slip against Rochdale on Wednesday night.

United needed the help of penalties to beat their League One opponents in the Carabao Cup as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side held on to avoid an embarrassing exit in the third round.

United dominated the match and took the lead in the second-half thanks to a brilliant strike from Mason Greenwood, but were soon pegged back when Luke Matheson volleyed in at the back post for Rochdale.

The equalising goal kicked United back into life but in the end they were unable to find a winner in normal time as their opponents held on for penalties.

Speaking after the game Pereira praised his side's dominance but urged them to push harder for a second goal once they take the lead.

“We were comfortable on the ball, we were on the ball most of the time of the game,” he told MUTV after the win.

“We couldn’t find really the pass through and finish the chances off but we had a lot of shots and a lot of finishes. We were a bit unlucky in that.

“I think, after we scored, the first goal we stopped. We have to push more and try to get the second goal and the third one.

“We woke up after the 1-1 and then got a lot of chances but we didn’t get the goal.”
