Andreas Christensen sends message to his Chelsea team-mates ahead of Euro 2020 semi-final

Chelsea and Denmark defender Andreas Christensen has warned England ahead of the Euro 2020 clash at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

This comes as Gareth Southgate's side have been tipped as heavy favourites to make it to the final on Sunday.

Christensen, 25, has been superb in Denmark's defence so far in this tournament, scoring his first international goal in his side's 4-1 triumph over Russia in the group stage.

Ahead of the semi-final, the Danish defender believes there isn't too much between the two nations despite the Three Lions being heavily favoured in this contest by the bookmakers.

“I feel like we have the qualities to play against everyone. As a team, I would not say they are that much better,” Christensen said on Monday.

England striker Harry Kane will be hungry to continue his purple patch against the Danes, as he aims to put himself back in the race for the golden boot at the tournament.

Kane currently has scored three goals so far, two behind the joint leaders in the running for the award in Patrick Schick (Czech Republic) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal).

The 27-year-old's club teammate Pierre-Emile Højbjerg will know the England striker's game inside out, and Christensen has revealed that the midfielder has briefed him on what to expect and how to best nullify the threats of Tottenham's talisman.

“We know his qualities and everyone has an idea of what we can do to stop him,” Christensen said.

“Pierre-Emile also knows him and it may be that he can share some things. All players have their habits and we must take advantage of them. He is good with his feet and he is one of the best finishers in football. I react a lot on instinct. He is very big, so it is hard to get into his body, but he also has great qualities with his feet, so you should not get too close either.”

Ahead of this crucial encounter, the 25-year-old's club teammate Mason Mount has been in contact wondering why the Dane can't replicate the goal against Russia back at west London in the Premier League.

Christensen replied that it will come in the future, but for now he is focusing on the semi-final, adding: “Wembley is a stadium for big games. I have good and bad memories from there.”

Only Danish fans in this country will be allowed to be part of the 60,000 capacity expected at the national stadium for this encounter, which will be a blow to Christensen and co as they usually thrive with the atmosphere created by the Scandinavian fans.

“We’re going to be outnumbered, but we are happy and we try to be as calm as we can. We have shown that we have the quality to play against the best.” Christensen said.

Kasper Hjulmand's side did beat England 1-0 in the Nations League, and he will hope his team summon that same spirit to replicate the outcome in Wednesday's upcoming semi-final.
