Andreas Christensen dismisses concerns over Chelsea contract as new deal will arrive ‘soon’

Andreas Christensen has told Chelsea fans not to worry about his future despite his contract expiring in the summer.

The Blues face a nervous few months while negotiating fresh deals with the Dane, Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta - all of whom are currently free to leave at the end of the season.

But Christensen has been a regular in Thomas Tuchel’s defence and is not concerned about his Chelsea future.

When asked by the club website when he could be signing on the dotted line, he replied: “Hopefully soon.

“I feel valued, I'm happy but I do not get into the contract situation.

“I do not know why everyone thinks it is a bad situation. Because I'm still happy and I enjoy playing football.

“I do not think about it at all. I enjoy playing football, so I do not know.”

Standard Sport reported in September that a long-term, £120,000-a-week contract is near to being finalised with Christensen - but talks have gone less smoothly with German defender Rudiger.

Both are set to be able to pre-agree a free transfer with clubs abroad from January.
