Andreas Bjelland confident of Celtic upset as Copenhagen defender praises draw

Andreas Bjelland insists Copenhagen have been given a great chance of Europa League progression by drawing Celtic.

The Danish outfit take on the Hoops having finished second in their own group behind Swedish side Malmo.

Celtic are the seeded team and have the advantage of the second leg being at home and the Danes only come out of hibernation from their winter break with a Friday night game at Esbjerg ahead of the first leg.

But former Brentford stopper and Danish international Bjelland is confident they can get the better of Neil Lennon's despite admitting he needs to brush up on his knowledge.

He said: "I see this as a real opportunity to progress.

"I'm not an expert on Scottish football or on Celtic. But from what I have seen, I definitely think we have a big chance.

"Of course we think we can qualify. It will be an exciting couple of games and it will be difficult.

"Celtic have a super stadium with a memorable atmosphere and it will be a great experience for our fans. It gives us and them something to really look forward to in the New Year."

And Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken reckons it could go either way.

He said: "I rate the tie as 50/50.

"I know Celtic if course because we played them in the past. Their fans are great and we had some tough battles before.

"It's a great opponent to get through and they probably think that way too."

Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner won't play though, after being released by the Danish outfit.
