Andrea Radrizzani shares Leeds United Champions League dream with UFC icon Khabib Nurmagomedov

Andrea Radrizzani has vowed that Leeds United will soon be in the Champions League, while watching Paris Saint-Germain's 4-1 hammering of Barcelona.

Leeds have impressed the entire Premier League in their first season in the English top flight, and Radrizzani has not been shy in his ambitions to see the Whites get back into European football.

Radrizzani first got involved in Leeds in January 2017, buying a 50% share of the club.

Five months later, he acquired the other 50% of the club from former and controversial owner Massimo Cellino and has been the majority shareholder ever since.

Radrizzani was crucial to the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa in 2018 and has invested heavily in the club, the squad, and the infrastructure, leading them to their most successful period in almost two decades.

Why were Leeds United so different in each half according to Bielsa?

The Eleven Sports owner is good friends with PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi and has been present at matches previously.

On Tuesday, he attended PSG's 4-1 hammering of Barcelona at the Camp Nou alongside MMA champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired after 29 wins from 29 fights and is largely considered the greatest MMA fighter in the world.

In an Instagram video with Khabib, Radrizzani was seen showing him a video of his Leeds team, before vowing that the Whites would be in the Champions League soon.

"One day, we will be [in the] Champions League," he told Khabib.

On Khabib's suggestion that Leeds could be at the Nou Camp with 100,000 in attendance, Radrizzani added: "I buy the rights."

Radrizzani has not been quiet about his ambitions with Leeds. In September last year, he told the Associated Press: "I hope we can stay in the Premier League for two years.

"After that first cycle of two years, I think we will be ready to step up and close the gap with the bigger teams.

"Obviously, my objective, if I look at a period of three, five years, is to be just behind the top six."

And after Leeds' promotion, in an official statement, he claimed:

"Since my journey with Leeds United began in the summer of 2017, we have strived for this moment and it is a time for us all to celebrate the club returning to where we belong.

"This is truly an amazing achievement and I’m so proud to be part of this club’s success.

"But our ambition does not stop here – and we are determined to continue on this path of achievement in future seasons."

Leeds currently sit in 11th position in the Premier League, an impressive position for their first season in the division.

They could also move back into the top half if they win their game in hand against Southampton next week.
