Andrea Radrizzani's three-word Sampdoria message as Leeds United exit imminent

Andrea Radrizzani has taken to Twitter to celebrate the start of a new chapter with Sampdoria. Radrizzani, who is in the process of selling Leeds United to 49ers Enterprises, has been finalising the takeover of Sampdoria for some time after striking a deal to purchase the club last month.

That saga has rumbled on with budgets needing to be approved in order for the Italian’s next venture to be officially rubber stamped. However, it seems the final hurdle has been cleared with reports in Italy claiming they have been passed through following a shareholders’ meeting.

The step means Sampdoria can now officially register as a Serie B club, following their relegation from the top flight, and the club can now begin to get ready for the new season under the ownership of Radrizzani and Matteo Manfredi. Without such approval there was a fear the Genoa-based outfit could miss the deadline to register and potentially miss out on a spot in the second tier entirely.

Board members at the club will now be demoted and the takeover is now considered a formality. Radrizzani has taken to social media, seemingly confirming the reports, with his first tweet about the club.

“Forza Samp,” he wrote alongside three heart emojis in the club’s blue, white and red colours. He then added: “ricominciAMO,” which roughly translated means ‘let’s start again.’

The tweet was Radrizzani’s first in relation to football since the news of a takeover at Elland Road was officially confirmed last week. Minority shareholders 49ers Enterprises have reached an agreement to buy out the Italian, who spent six years as chairman and owner of Leeds United, and that deal is now in the hands of the EFL, who will be assessing a number of key investors within the group.

Leeds will be hoping for a quick resolution on that front and confirmation will officially bring an end to the Radrizzani era in West Yorkshire.
