Andrea Radrizzani puts Leeds United in 'front row' to sign seven-goal midfielder

Leeds United are leading the chase to sign 21-year-old midfielder Michael Folorunsho from Italian minnows Virtus Francavilla, according to reports from the continent.

The Peacocks are seeking new recruits ahead of Marcelo Bielsa's second season in charge at Elland Road, after suffering heartbreak in the playoffs following an impressive maiden campaign under the Argentine boss.

Leeds are among the favourites to seal a long-awaited return to the Premier League next season and new additions will help their charge - with interest in Folorunsho now being reported by two separate outlets.

Tutto Calcio Puglia carried the initial report, suggesting the deal was being led by Andrea Radrizzani's contacts in Italy rather than Victor Orta, and now Gazzetta dello Sport have corroborated the claims by adding that Leeds are in the 'front row'.

The 21-year-old central midfielder was in impressive form in Serie C last season, Italy's third-tier, scoring seven goals and registering an additional assist in his 31 league matches.

Formerly a Lazio youth product, the Rome-born midfielder left the Serie A giants for his current club in 2017 but could now be on his way to English football.

A fee is not mentioned but the price is unlikely to be too significant given the stature of the player and the size of the club that Leeds are looking to buy from.
