Andrea Radrizzani proud he has helped consign the 'dirty Leeds' tag to history

Andrea Radrizzani claims he is proud he has helped consign the ‘dirty Leeds ’ tag to history.

Leeds were branded dirty in the 1960s because of the physical approach of the likes of Johnny Giles, Norman Hunter and Billy Bremner.

Radrizzani is proud Leeds have changed their public perception through the attractive football played by Marcelo Bielsa.

“It’s changed to nice Leeds,” said the Leeds chairman and owner. “I’m quite impressed.

“I saw on social media that Leeds have become the second team for many youngsters in the country and that makes me very proud because it means we play good football

“Normally you choose a second team who play the best football and have the best style, so I’m very proud of that.”

Leeds have made a solid start to life back in the Premier League after their 16-year exile and Radrizzani says his aim is to qualify for Europe - but not this season.

“I want to take Leeds into Europe,” the Italian told beIN SPORTS. “I know it can’t come now, but it can come after three or five years.

“I think it’s a bit too early. Everything comes at the right time and we should be ready for that.

“It’s one step at a time. I hope we don’t go into Europe yet, we’re not ready yet. We need to go gradually.

“What I want is to stay in the Premier League, that’s for sure.

“We must do it by phases and I think in this moment, we need to focus for the next couple of years to stay in the Premier League.

“We all know this club is massive, this brand is known everywhere. So if we stay in the Premier League with the opportunities this club has, then really we can aim to stay just next to the top six.”
